September 2007 Events and Day Trips
Well, the Valley Vineyards annual wine festival is cancelled this year. I'm extremely disappointed. It's a lot of fun and I hope they'll bring it back next year. But now I need something to fill in the gap.
Luckily, the Kentucky festival season kicks off in a major way in September. There are dozens of fun festivals happening this month all over the tri-state. It's hard to pick out just a few.
So, what Kentucky festivals and events do we have to look forward to in September? Plenty:

So, what Kentucky festivals and events do we have to look forward to in September? Plenty:
- Oktoberfest, Oktoberfest, Oktoberfest- Read all about local Oktoberfest festivals;
- Leon Redbone is headlining the Blues To The Point festival in Carrolltown, September 7th and 8th;
- The Kentucky Bourbon Festival promises to be "neat." September 11th-16th in Bardstown;
- The Antique Gas and Steam Engine Show in Paducah has grown to feature more than 800 restored farm machines, tractors, railroad motor cars, wagons, cars and stagecoaches- and sounds like a great excuse for a road trip! September 21-23;
- I just learned about Burgoo- the Anderson County Burgoo Festival makes a weekend out of celebrating this famous Kentucky stew on September 28-30;
- The Bowling Green International Festival celebrates multiple heritages through food, dance and art on September 29;
- The Gateway Music and Arts Festival, Kentucky's largest alternative music festival, rolls into Mt. Sterling on September 27th and runs through the 30th.
Civil War reenactments and Renaissance festivals aren't my thing (and probably shouldn't be grouped together) but there are so many of these happening this fall I'll address them separately in another NKN post.
